Bake Italian Style Pizza with the Buschbeck Pizza Oven Insert

What you'll need

(makes dough for 4 pizzas, each one about 12 inches in diameter):

  • 600 mL of warm water
  • 7 cups (1kg) flour, type “00”*
  • 2.5 – 3 tablespoons (25 grams) of fresh yeast or 2 teaspoons (7-8 grams) of dried yeast.
  • 6 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

*A note on the flour: In Italy, pizzerias in Italy use the most highly-refined and finest-ground flour available. However an all-purpose flour should work just as well!

Lets Get Baking

1. Sprinkle the yeast into a medium bowl with the warm water. Warm water is the kind the yeast likes best. Stir until the yeast dissolves.

2. Place almost all of the flour on the table in the shape of a volcano.

3. Pour the yeast-and-warm-water mix, along with the other ingredients, into the “crater” of the volcano.

4. Knead everything together for 10 to 15 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic, keeping your surface floured.

5. Grease up a bowl with some olive oil and put the dough inside. Turn the dough around so the top is slightly oiled.

6. Cover the bowl and put the dough aside to let it rest for at least four or five hours.

7. Preheat the oven to about 400°F, or about 200°C.

8. Dump the dough out of the bowl and back onto the floured surface. Punch it down, getting rid of any bubbles.

9. Divide the dough in half and let it rest for a few minutes.

10. Roll each section into a 12-inch disc. Now’s your chance to decide how thick you want your pizza to be! Do you want it pizza alta (Neapolitan-style) or pizza bassa (Roman-style)? Just remember, your crust will puff up a little bit as it’s baked!

11.  Transfer the dough onto an oiled pizza pan or baking sheet.

12. Add tomato sauce, if you want or you could do without tomato sauce. Brush the edges of the crust with a little bit of olive oil.

13. Bake each pizza for about 10 minutes, then add mozzarella cheese (sliced or grated) on top, as well as any other ingredients.

14. Let the pizzas bake until the crust is browned and the cheese is melted. By lifting up the pizza to peek underneath, you can make sure the bottom has browned, too.

15. Remove your pizzas from the oven.

Advantages of the Buschbeck BBQ / Outdoor Fireplace

Advantages of the Buschbeck BBQ / Outdoor Fireplace
A masonry fireplace can be loaded with both charcoal (in all its forms) but also wood - thus serve as an “all-round outdoor-fireplace/grill“. Most users start off with charcoal for cooking then switch to slower-burning wood to use the masonry fireplace as a patio heater.

• Double walled construction - Choose between charcoal or wood as your fuel. Use charcoal for cooking and wood logs or firewood and turn your buschbeck into a patio heater to keep you warm!

• Cooking -  Heavy-duty chrome grill with plenty of space to grill food even for large numbers of people.

• Maintenance free - If needed just jet-wash or hose-down at the end of the season!

• Well built - Masonry fireplaces won't rust so tend to last much longer than traditional fireplaces.

• Easy to assemble - Masonry fireplaces come in sectional components, of which only two require mortaring with the cement provided.

• Fuel storage - Use the lower compartment for storing your fuel.

Weather-Proof - Masonry fireplaces are weatherproof  so can be left outdoors.

Life Expectancy - In Europe where Buschbeck barbecues are widely sold it is not unusual to see examples that are in excess of 20 years old! As far as maintenance goes there is little or nothing to do. If the masonry fireplace's appearance becomes a little too "weathered"  simply use a jet wash to clean it down!

Heat retention - Because masonry fireplaces are made from stone they tend to heat up more quickly and retain heat for longer.

Introducing The Buschbeck BBQ / Outdoor Fireplace

Introducing The Buschbeck BBQ / Outdoor Fireplace

To call this a BBQ doesn't really do it justice. This is the Ultimate Outdoor Fireplace,  BBQ, and Pizza Oven... all rolled into one!

Buschbeck BBQ / Outdoor Fireplaces are one of the best semi-permanent barbecues available on the market. They are not officially permanent - they are movable - but as they weigh almost half a ton it's not likely that you'll carry them backwards and forwards from your garage every time! They're effectively like a brick-built fireplace.

They are completely weatherproof. They make an attractive focal point in any garden and they can stay there all year round.

The Buschbeck BBQ / Outdoor Fireplaces are manufactured from high-quality materials so there is normally never a need to cover, paint or render them. It's not uncommon for the Buschbeck to still be going strong after 20 years.

There are a number of unique features of Buschbeck BBQ / Outdoor Fireplaces-

•Double walled construction - Choose between charcoal or wood as your fuel. Use charcoal for cooking or use logs or firewood and turn your grill into a patio heater to keep you warm!

•Safety - Buschbeck is the only European brand of masonry fireplace/grill to achieve the very stringent TUV/GS safety standard. The special construction ensures a high level of safety as air is constantly circulating between the outer skin and the five part furnace area, keeping the outer shell cool at all times.

•Cooking - It has three adjustable cooking heights and comes with a heavy-duty chrome grill with plenty of space to grill food.

•Maintenance free - If needed just jet-wash or hose-down at the end of the season!

•Well built - Steel reinforced concrete and quartz on most components.

•Easy to assemble - Each masonry fireplace/grill contains approximately 10 sectional components, of which only two require mortaring with the cement provided.

•Attractive garden focal point - The Rondo has a high quality white quartz concrete finish that is complemented by its real copper insert on the mantelpiece, giving it a modern look that would complement any garden setting.

•Fuel storage - Use the lower compartment for storing your fuel.

As far as maintenance goes there is little or nothing to do. If the masonry barbecue's appearance becomes a little too "weathered"  simply use a jet wash to clean it down!
